We have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata GL 2.4 I4 with 50K miles on it. Low miles, isn’t driven a lot, and is mostly trouble fee. It has never had any major maintenance. But recently I’ve noted s a rattle on start-up that goes away after a few minutes. At first I thought it was the valves and just changed the oil, but now I’m increasingly concerned that it is something in the timing system. It is my understanding that Hyundai switched from a timing belt to a chain around this time frame. I know a belt must be changed periodically, but don’t know if the chain must also be changed or if it is good for the life of the engine. I also understand that this is an interference engine, and the consequences of the timing belt/chain skipping would be fatal to the engine. So do I need to seek immediate mechanical assistance, lol
