Did you know that a new wind energy production record has been set? The world’s largest wind turbine has shattered the record for single-day power generation. On September 1st, the Goldwind GWH252-16MW wind turbine produced 384.1 megawatt hours (MWh) of energy in just 24 hours, amidst a typhoon battering southeast China. This amount of energy is sufficient to power around 170,000 homes, illuminate 38 million LEDs, or drive an electric car for 2.2 million kilometers. According to the source, China holds the global leadership in wind power. In 2021, it installed more offshore wind generation capacity than any other country worldwide in the past five years. China alone accounted for 49 percent of the total global offshore wind capacity of 64.3GW in 2022, surpassing Europe's 47 percent share. Moreover, the country is in the planning stages for the world’s largest wind farm, a facility so immense that it could potentially power all of Norway.
