Hey y’all, the shop just quoted me $800 to replace the front 2 wheel bearings in my 2010 Honda Civic. They were definitely bad and needed to be replaced. A quick Google search told me the national average is closer to $350 per wheel. Do y’all think this is a fair price or have been stung?

AFAIK, bearings are for reducing friction during relative motion between a shaft and a bore. Given that a car wheel and its axle are supposed to rotate together, why do they need bearings? Would it not make sense for the axle and wheel to be press fitted together
