Pillow blocks for Thomson RoundRail linear bearings provide self alignment and greater tolerance of reduced parallelism compared to square rail guides. They’re also easier and less expensive to install without compromise to important performance requirements. Pillow block bearings can be installed with either continuous or end supports, they handle moment loads well, and offer low drag and excellent smoothness.

To see hundreds more photographs from the 1980’s, through to today, please go to my main website: table158photography.weebly.com/ Into a new year, and with only 18 weeks - at the time of uploading - until the annual Swanage Railway diesel gala interest is starting to gather, and hopefully with it some confirmed news soon on attending locomotives and the planned timetable.  The 2012 Swanage Railway diesel gala was fraught with drama before it had even started, due to the failure of the railway's resident main line Class 33 No.33012 which suffered a hot-box to an axle, making it as far as Burton-on-Trent, whilst en-route to Barrow Hill to collect visiting locomotives including a 'Warhsip' and a Deltic. And if things couldn't have gotten any worse for the organisers, 47375 which was hauling a pair of Class 20's down failed around Gloucester, and somewhat surprisingly the lot was dragged back to Kidderminster, creating something of a locomotive shortage for the event. With a reduced number of attractions, boosted at the final hour by Network Rail's 57312 and 73136 'Perseverance' from Eastleigh Works, here is the 'star of the show' Class 27 No. D5401 (27056, 27112) courtesy of the Northampton Type 2 Group and is seen here on 12 May 2012 heading for Swanage in superb conditions; the veteran diesel looking and sounding fantastic. No matter what the drama's were, the 2012 gala turned out to be another fantastic event, thanks to some great efforts by the organisers.

Flanged pillow blocks are also available for when the mounting surface is perpendicular to the shaft. Side mount pillow blocks are open pillow blocks with the mounting surface 90 degrees from the standard blocks.

On the 10th of June, 2023 a group of British railfans set off for a journey circling Lake Balaton on board an excursion train. The train was organized by the Brush 4 Type Fund, with traction to be provided by the only Class 47 in Hungary, #375 built by Brush Falcon Works. Unfortunately, due to the main generator failure of the unit a few weeks prior to the event, it couldn't make it to the party, so the green NOHAB of Komplex Rail jumped in to cover. A Sulzer of Train Hungary also appeared as a trailing unit from Budapest to Tapolca, taking over from there for the rest of the journey. Despite the switcheroo, the excursion train was well booked, with happy faces hanging out the windows, enjoying the lovely scenery. In this drone shot the chartered train is rolling between Badacsonytomaj and Badacsony stops, with the lake to the right, and a few renowned buttes of the Balaton Uplands in the background. Thomson Ball Bushing® and RoundWay® bearings are shipped with rust preventative oil (unless otherwise specified). Rust preventative oil is not adequate lubrication for use. Prior to installation, bearings require a small amount of grease or oil to operate properly. Which lubrication to choose is dependent on many factors.
