I wouldnt change it... not unless like Lorenzo said its vibrating or you can feel play. Especially in a ol farm dump truck. Now if it was my pickup I rely on everyday and take on long trips hauling, I might waste some money.

Working on the farm dump truck. ( 1989 F350) I’ve never had a carrier bearing on a drive shaft before . So I was under there putting on the new hydraulic hose and noticed the bearing looking up . Hum ! Little bit of red fret dust buy shaft. I’m not seeing it shake around ,. The strap is rusted through in a spot on the bottom .  Look ? ing at end of life even if it not failed .  Should I change it out ?‍♂️?

Sounds as bad as losing the engine to transmission drive shaft on some Deere's . 7000 series and some sprayers it takes out the front window.

I took a grinder and ground the heads off.  Son laid under there with a sprayer with water and kept things wet and I would grind alittle off and let set to cool down good. Took awhile to do but worked.

Thought ,I thought the removal of the bolts that secure the bearing to frame would be pretty easy . Shot pd blaster on them . Got the impact wrench on the right side ,it rounded off. Tried the left side and bolt just rotating the half clip nut. Ugh ?

Seen a few trucks come in on the hook that made it very clear their hanger bearing was out. They needed a bunch of air lines, wires, new driveshafts, and some fuel tank repair too.

I replaced one twice on a F250, you could hear it roar when coasting, got a crappy bearing and had to replace it again in 10,000 km.

I had one go. What I think happened is the bearing seized then ripped the rubber support up. I had heard some squeaking at one point and that must have been the bearing going. Anyway, the whole mess was rattling around in the steel carrier. Bearing would barely turn when I took it apart.
