Can anyone think of a particular reason why a 128-2Z bearing wouldn't be a superior alternative to a 608zz for our applications inside an extruder? I have a couple on the way to try out in some of my designs but I'm just curious why they aren't more widespread. I suppose it might be a case of "the 608zz setup works, why mess with it"? but I kind of like messing with working setups.

If you look at most of the extruder designs out there that use an 8mm shaft, almost all of them use an 8mm ID, 22mm OD 7mm wide 608zz bearing for the main bearings and the idler. The idler one makes a fair amount of sense to me since you want an idler wide enough to cover the filament groove in the hobbed bolt / thingy / etc. But why don't more people use something like an 128-2Z 8mm id 12mm od 3.5mm wide bearing for the mains, since bearing weight is one of the larger pieces of metal mass after the motor and the hobbed bolt on an extruder?
