What should I be looking for? You should look to see that your child is not scheduled for a class that they have already passed or for a class not appropriate for their grade level. For example, a tenth year student scheduled for twelfth grade English. Or an incoming student scheduled for a class they have taken in the 8th grade.
This week many, but not all, students are being provided with envelopes regarding the recent class action lawsuit, Z.Q. v. NYC DOE. A class action lawsuit is a legal proceeding where a group of people, called a class, is represented by one or more plaintiffs. This lawsuit was initiated by guardians with students in New York City Public Schools who may have not been provided with their required IEP services during remote learning from March 2020 through July 2021 stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. This is not an Aviation High School specific lawsuit, and the services your child may have received or been entitled to could relate to their elementary or middle school years. Therefore, if you receive an enveloped letter relating to this lawsuit, please review the following information carefully.
