Compass bearing

Im pretty new to the whole milsim side of arma 3, and while i know how to read bearings, and read map callouts, is there a way to say, see a tank on a certain square of the map and then determine the correct compass bearing it would appear at based on my location? I thought i was doing it the right way the other night by reading the numbers along the top of the map as bearings, but today that seems to be wrong. Any ideas? There must be a way to do this, or at least i assume there is.
