Kh2540pp bearingreview

The only reference I have for pricing is a different vehicle in the midwest a couple years ago which was only around $400 for one wheel bearing. Is this a fair price?

Alternatively, is it possible to replace wheel bearings yourself? I have done some light maintenance(brake pads, rotors, etc.) and I have a decent amount of tools (would also rather buy tools than pay for labor). Is it too difficult or cost prohibitive to do it yourself? Would I need to buy OEM parts or are there comparable aftermarket parts?

They came back with $1600 (before tax, $700 OEM parts, $900 labor) to replace both front wheel bearings which are bad. I am trying to get a itemized breakdown of costs, but I don’t have it yet. Called another local shop and they quoted around $1600 as well. This is in Southern California (Kern County).
