The Problems I Experienced Starting a Career in Writing (Series One) Harsh story! Take this as a one-on-one session with me. When I first started writing professionally in 2018, I got a few unkind words and remarks from people who failed to consider writing a legitimate job. In their defense, when I put WRITER as an occupation on online forms, it came back as an invalid occupation! This bruised my ego and for a skill as creative, I thought people needed to stop seeing it as a waste of words and ink on a piece of paper. Words are the very essence of communication and without them, you can make complete sense. Writing is a translation of thoughts into written expressions making them more emotionally appealing and tangible to your audience. It is the proper usage of grammar, sentence formation, and punctuation marks that makes your articles more concise, and easily understood. One mistake I made was letting people's opinions of writing redirect what I had a passion for. Leaving my passion, I tried to dabble into something that sounded more occupational but those things also involved writing. It made me realize that you can't take out writing from any occupation! Those in these occupations are continuously looking for writers because writers are the unsung heroes who work their magic into every piece of work and make it alive. Writing has a beauty between simplicity and complexity. It is as mentally exerting as any other profession because it involves creativity, passion, focus (a great map to help give a skeletal framework, research, and time) and there are the skills needed in execution. Diving back into this occupation with my passion in check, I gave a sense of purpose to what I now wanted to do (kindly note that I keep saying passion because you have to be passionate about what you do. Putting the right attitude brings more effective results). This gave me a lens to look through and connect with what I wanted to do. Then I began helping people write for free for my family members and acquaintances. When they recognized this skill, they came to terms with my occupation. With problem one solved, I unlocked a new sense of fulfillment. There were other problems I had to deal with but we would continue in the next series. I hope you found this useful. ? The Power of the Cover Letter: Your Ticket to Standing Out ? In today’s competitive job market, standing out can be a challenge. While your CV showcases your experience and qualifications, a well-crafted cover letter can be the key to differentiating yourself from the rest. Here’s why cover letters can be important: ? Personal Connection: Cover letters allow you to introduce yourself on a personal level. It's your chance to explain why you are passionate about the role and the company, and how your unique background makes you the perfect fit. ? Highlighting Relevant Skills: Use your cover letter to highlight specific skills and experiences that are directly relevant to the job. This targeted approach shows hiring managers that you’ve done your homework and are genuinely interested in the position. ? Demonstrating Communication Skills: Writing a clear and compelling cover letter demonstrates your communication skills, which are critical in almost every job. It’s your opportunity to show how effectively you can convey your thoughts and ideas. ? Cultural Fit: Companies don’t just hire a set of skills; they are looking for someone who fits their culture and values. Your cover letter is a chance to align your personal values with those of the company, making a stronger case for why you belong there. ? Taking the Extra Step: By including a cover letter, you are showing your willingness to go the extra mile. This initiative can set you apart from candidates who don’t put in the same effort. Workplace Advice: 1. Avoid gossip at work. Soon you’ll be 50 and irritated by the personal growth of those against whom you used to spread falsehood. 2. Always be a professional. They’ll blackmail you; their evil schemes shall include hijacking your achievements; stay professional. Document everything and remain civil. 3. Don’t retaliate. Don’t play their toxic games. You’re not as evil as they are. 4. Integrity is everything. Your professional reputation shall never betray you. 5. Have a mentor; someone with more exposure and maturity. Someone who’s accomplished and grounded and needs no societal validation to feel secure in life. 6. Accomplish tasks and document everything. What you do, NOT what you say, shall speak for itself over time. 7. Use official channels of communication when dealing with toxic co-workers; even when they act friendly, they’re not your friends. 8. Build yourself and your networks outside of the toxic workplace. Prepare to leave any time. 9. Build your value in silence. Let them talk. Your actions should explicitly communicate your boundaries. 10. Avoid burnout. Go for leave. Work out. Take health breaks.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT EMPLOYEE-EMPLOYER MATCH Just because someone has an impressive job title doesn't automatically make them a great employee. In recent time, I have been receiving a lot of messages about the importance of hard skills and soft skills and whether they should be included on a resume. It's clear that both types of skills play critical roles in demonstrating one's qualifications and suitability for a position. Hard skills, such as technical competencies attained through education or specific training, include proficiency with tools like software or machinery. These skills are crucial in various professions, such as architecture requiring specific software or technical competencies, are essential for performing job-specific tasks effectively. On the other hand, soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities are crucial for fostering a positive work environment and enhancing overall productivity. The importance of each skill type varies depending on the job. While hard skills are necessary for technical tasks, soft skills contribute to overall job performance and team dynamics. Employers may prioritize candidates with strong soft skills, such as empathy and problem-solving abilities, even if their hard skills are less developed. This preference stems from the recognition that soft skills can be more challenging to cultivate and significantly impact workplace cohesion and productivity. Therefore, incorporating a balanced mix of both hard and soft skills on a resume can greatly enhance one's chances of standing out to potential employers and showcasing a well-rounded skill set that aligns with the demands of the role. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- S??? ? ?? ??? ??? ??? ????????? ???????? ?Resume Writing ?Cover Letter Writing ?LinkedIn Profile Optimization ?Resume Review #ResumeSkills #CareerDevelopment #HardSkills #SoftSkills #Resume #Coverletter #Linkedinprofileoptimization

Every year we notice many Muslims wishing diwali... And today I saw a wishing post of one of my Facebook friends. Before you do, let me clear this to you. Why Muslims Should Be Mindful About Wishing Diwali...? As Diwali season rolls around, it’s common to see people sharing wishes. But have you ever stopped to think about what Diwali truly celebrates... ...and how it aligns (or doesn’t) with Islamic beliefs? Why Do Hindus Celebrate Diwali? For Hindus, Diwali isn’t just a cultural event – it’s a religious one. Many believe it marks the victory of good over evil, specifically when Lord Krishna, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, defeated the demon Narakasura. Others view Diwali as a time to worship Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, hoping for blessings and prosperity. So when we, as Muslims, wish “Happy Diwali,” it can unintentionally mean that we’re acknowledging or accepting these beliefs. Islam places a big emphasis on maintaining Tawheed (the belief in one God) and avoiding anything that could suggest shirk (associating others with Allah). But Why Hindus Wish Us on Eid UL Fitar, not Eid UL Adha? Some may think, “Hindus wish us on Eid, so why can’t we do the same for Diwali?” The difference is in the nature of the celebrations: Eid-ul-Fitr is a day of gratitude and happiness after Ramadan, and it doesn’t involve worshipping any other figure. When people of other faiths wish us on Eid, they’re simply sharing in our joy – they’re not endorsing a religious belief. On the other hand, Diwali has strong religious ties to certain deities and beliefs that aren’t part of Islamic teachings. Same for Eid UL Adha... Hindus don't wish Eid UL Adha because it involves something that Hindus aren't allowed in their religion. At the end of the day, everyone has the freedom to celebrate their beliefs, and as Muslims, we’re taught to treat others with kindness and respect. Respect doesn’t mean we have to blend religious practices. It’s about understanding and honoring each other’s boundaries. So, while we can wholeheartedly wish people well. It’s also okay to hold our ground and simply not join in on greetings that go beyond the boundaries of our own faith. There’s nothing hateful about that; it’s just a respectful choice based on our beliefs. I hope this doesn't hurt anyone's sentiments. Don't forget to share coz those who are doing already can avoid this. PS. I'm back after a long time. Did you notice? ? Oh, don't you know about me??

I get so overwhelmed by simple tasks, but I handle complex ones without breaking a sweat. This shows up in my resume writing. It’s easier for me to show off the value of someone with 15+ years of experience than write about an early career journey (my thought process might surprise you!). That same habit shows up back in my undergrad in automation engineering, where top-to-bottom problem solving was prioritized. Overthinking is my thought process, more than I'd like to admit it. Initially, it sounded like a bad thing. But, it’s what helps me create resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and professionals bios that show what you do. Where you downplay your achievements, I overthink!!! You can be "not enough", "too much" or "just enough." It entirely depends on how you show this in your professionals documents. The day you struggle with this, send an InMail and I will respond ASAP. English is not my first language. But I’ve made a career that pays 6-figures out of it ✅ (If you ever felt like an outsider in life then this is for you) As a middle-class girl who switched from Urdu to English school, I had SO much to prove but.. > I always kept thinking I’m not good enough. > I doubted if I truly belonged in certain spaces. But after many struggles, today, I've not just entered - but I've made those spaces my domain. My journey as a Content writer → Ghostwriter → brand storyteller is built on using the language that once made me feel like an outsider. So, how did I do it? It’s simple?By embracing my unique challenges and turning it into my greatest asset. That feeling of being an outsider, of having to work twice as hard gave me: 1. empathy and 2. determination. I understood the mindset of craving to belong, to find your place, and to have a band of like-minded people. ↳ Isn't that exactly what personal branding is about? 1/ Allowing your authentic self to be seen ↳ You’re not just a SaaS founder. You’re a first-time founder disrupting the fintech sector. 2/ Forging real connections with those who truly get you ↳ You don’t need just followers but a dedicated audience that resonates with your message. 3/ Turning your struggles into your greatest strengths. ↳ You don’t just tell people of problems you faced but show them exactly how you fixed them. When you use these life experiences then your personal brand is no longer about perfection. It becomes relatable and inspiring. That kind of authenticity attracts a loyal audience. When you dare to get vulnerable and share your losses, wins, aha moments, and personality quirks through your content, that's when the magic happens. At least, that's how I build a unique personal brand.
