When you sign up for a NYC311 Account, you will be able to create a profile where you can choose your preferred language, customize how you receive Service Request updates, and update your contact information. 211 New Jersey

Across the country, 211 is the number to call for health and human services information and referrals. In New York City, this service is provided through 311.

You can submit certain types of Service Requests online. If you provide a valid email address, you will receive an email with your Service Request Number. NYC311 will send your Service Request to the appropriate Agency. The Agency will follow up whether or not you get an email.

In New York City, this service is provided through NYC 988. When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network.

Through Skype, a software application that allows you to make calls over the internet, people from around the world are able to call 311 for free when they add NYC311 as one of their Skype contacts.

988 is the three-digit dialing code across the country that will route callers to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, previously known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

When you call 311, your phone service provider charges the cost of a local call. When you are transferred to another phone number from 311, there is no additional cost.
