One thing I've noticed I thought bearings and races were machined to work together and you bought them as a set. CNH now sells some bearings and races separately.

Top 10wheelbearing brands

Recent example: a 6500 watt diesel gen with a Yanmar knockoff single cyl air cooled that went through 2 starters, 2 injection nozzles, 1 injector pump and had such a bizarre  fuel hose schematic it was barely decipherable. All in less than 100 hrs of use. It now, after replacing the starter for the 3rd time will not do anything but barely idle, any increase in throttle kills it.

As past experience has shown, having worked on all manner of equipment from excavators/dozer, down through auto/pickup/car/motorcycle & all manner of trailers from lowboys to personal watercraft. I have ALWAYS been disappointed with anything made in or from china, from shoddy workmanship all the way to just plain junk. I've generally had to replace same quite often 2-3 to one over American or European  & occasionally Japanese made.

I always thought they were both top shelf bearings.  For what its worth Chinese made PEER bearings are a subsidiary of SKF.

Bestwheelbearing brands

I've always been a fan of Timken bearings. However they are getting harder to find in bearing supply houses round here. Skf and other makes are more available.

Fafnir is owned by Timken now.  It’s worth noting that New Holland round balers used to have Fafnir bearings on them, then for a while were coming out with PEER.  Wonder why?

Why would anyone, with the recent history and exposure to china undermining our industrial base and intellectual property, want to support anything to do with china. Thank you, but I'll not pay anything for chinkanese goods when I can support American workers for a few dollars more.

havent purchased one over $15 in 10 years, since quote for 4     1/2" x 1" x 3/4" + special shipping and other BS was $20 MORE !!! than buying another new china $#&()* hand cart

Motor by Motorwheel bearings review

Concur with what mmi was saying, years ago would phone in substantial order in the morning and go pickup in the afternoon, only a couple main big players distributing now and carry little stock all wait on ordering in

I can understand and hes right.  If you go to a bearing supplier with a number and it's not something super common, you're gonna wait IF theyll try to track it down for you.

Wheelbearing brands to avoid

I thought skf was a top notch brand but the bearing price is significantly cheaper than Timken at leastin this case. Sometimes that's a red flag for me.

We will run anything over Fafnir because of exactly that. Had too many fail due to no grease. And I mean zero. Not a spec in a new bearing. Sadly not all sealed bearings can be opened up easily without damaging the seal

Electrical contractor removed and rebuilt a 150hp 600V 3 ph motor for us at work 20 years ago, this was driving an air compressor and had a monorail in stalled above it and the other one, anyway they removed it took it to the shop during a shutdown and reinstalled it, no laser alignment  I think it was 3 way with dial indicators and had a fairly substantial coupling, as soon as we started it up it had a funny sound and they analyzed it and greased etc, after a week they pulled it out again and replaced the new bearings again, owner said sourcing bearings lately were giving him fits with where they were made and quality and basically just lost all profit on that job, think they were fag...

Just as a note, recently any sealed bearings I get I've been popping the seal out and making sure or adding grease to them.  Sometimes there isn't much in the form of lube in them. Can't hurt.

SKFwheel bearings review

I keep thinking of ALL the past Boss's I've had,  some were so bloody greedy you would think They had to pay for all the parts we bought,  HAD to buy from off-shore no matter how crappy the parts were.  In one case, it took a while but I talked one of my best Domestic sources into making these two small parts. I no longer had to personally rework 10,000 pcs of this part over a weekend when I got them in from Taiwan. No more $25,000 air freight bill for a shipment of parts. I got them next day via normal UPS Brown, supplier always had finished parts on his shelf ready to ship.   I hope some of the past S O B's I worked for catch this China Virus, would serve them right!

NKwheel bearings review

There was a lot of counterfeit going on from the east, bearing manufacturers having production facilities in numerous countries all with varying QC quality, it can be a crapshoot, some packing maybe USA only

Timken was top notch but subject to Asian counterfeit almost impossible to decipher including the packaging until you ran it

havent purchased one over $15 in 10 years, since quote for 4     1/2" x 1" x 3/4" + special shipping and other BS was $20 MORE !!! than buying another new china $#&()* hand cart

Been using alot of skf the past few years. Can't say they're any better or worse. Like has been said, they're right up with the top brands
