Nose breathing has really helped me pace myself and avoid wheezing in temps around 32F/0C. I've also been wearing it in conjunction with my Coldavenger Outlaw mask without much issue for colder temps. I forgot to put the dilator in this morning under my coldavenger and was short of air and was struggling for breath trying to only nose breathe while climbing on my morning commute at about 22F (I was fine and pedaling faster while wearing it yesterday). So, I think I'm sticking with using some sort of nasal dilator as a relatively cheap solution.

Fwiw: a lot of people don’t have issues breathing through their nose. Unfortunately, I’m one of those folks who (for athletic activities especially) needs a some type of aid.

NBR rubber is above all resistant to oils, especially hydraulic oils, lubricants, petrol and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, diluted acids and lyes. Good physical values such as high friction resistance and ruggedness and good temperature resistance (-25 °C up to +120 °C, in part to -40 °C) give this natural rubber a wide range of uses.

I've been using a Rhinomed Turbine for Riding to open my nose so I can avoid mouth breathing as much. I tend to have issues getting enough air volume without a Nasal Dilator to keep up with aerobic activity, but I'm able to go up to about 165bpm Heart Rate efforts only nose breathing when using one of these devices. This seems to help a lot during colder temps as well when I don't want to mask up (to prevent wheezing -w- exercise induced asthma) since nose breathing does help warm the air a bit before it hits the lungs.

Though, I've taken to using my medium sized one that doesn't work well to keep my nose open while sleeping to stop the need for mouth breathing at night. It's not the most comfortable solution, but so far the most effective at opening my nose enough to keep up with breathing at a moderate pace and climbing hills.
