The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the national metrology institute of Germany and the highest authority for all questions of correct and reliable measurement with locations in Berlin and Braunschweig. It emerged from the Physikalisch-Technische Reichsanstalt, which was founded in 1887 by Werner von Siemens and Hermann von Helmholtz at its historical location in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Today, Department 8 "Medical Physics and Metrological Information Technology" deals with topics in biomedical magnetic resonance, biosignals, biomedical optics, laboratory medicine, data analysis, mathematical modeling and information technology. Department 7 "Temperature and Synchroton Radiation" uses laboratories in Charlottenburg as well as in Adlershof, the electron storage rings Metrology Light Source of PTB and BESSY II at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

These bearings feature a smaller cross-section, higher load-carrying capacity, greater rigidity, and lower inertia forces that facilitate size and weight reductions in machinery. They’re designed to withstand oscillation, perform under severe conditions, and interchange with sliding bearings.
