The advantage for pumpers is tough construction, the handles will not break in heavy use. The Silverline model also has a slightly larger operating piston, thus it displaces a larger volume of air per stroke than the plastic-body model. The disadvantage is the potential for corrosion- if you draw water or water-based materials into the metal body and don't clean the unit, the interior cylinder surfaces can corrode, and that will destroy the pump. This is a maintenance and cleaning issue. Properly maintained, corrosion is not a problem. Because of the durability, we recommend using this pump for larger volume cylinders.
