From posts 2 and 8 the belt change is 160k miles or 10 years if sooner. The chain between the 2 cam shafts would not normally be replaced unless worn. So it looks as if there is no rush to replace the belt.
Just checked mileage, in a 2010 guide it gives 140k miles or 10 years and in a 2007 guide it gives 160k miles or 10 years for normal service. So you may find your guide is about 140k miles. Citroen's latest Maintenance guides no longer provide servicing information and say to look at the service plan that is provided by the dealer when you buy the car - so you need to photocopy your existing one if you change the car. The service plan does not give anything away either, just mileages when services are due without saying what needs doing.

The belt change interval is in the Maintenance and Warranty book but will be 10 years or 100-160k miles (I do not have a book to hand to confirm this). When you replace it though is up to you but if it snaps it could write the engine off. If keeping the car for many years and it will need a new belt during that time, then there is no need to wait to the end of the interval. If you use aftermarket parts they may not have the same extended life as Citroen ones.

Just had my timing belt changed. There was no history of it ever having been done, the car is now 11 yrs old and done 260k miles, 100k by me in the past three years.
The 2.0 hdi 138 and 163 bhp engines have a timing belt and a chain. The chain is between the 2 camshafts but the belt is between the crankshaft and 1 cam shaft (one at the back).
I replaced the belt / tensioner / water pump on our last C3 at 8 years and 39k miles, not wanting to take the risk of it failing early and intending to keep it for a few years after this. All the bits looked in good condition when removed. I will be doing the same on our C5 soon now it is nearly 9 years but it will be less than 30k miles when changed. Since we will be keeping it for some time it will need doing whilst we have it and this way the risk of the belt failing is minimised. There have been reports on here of belts failing and it sounds expensive so not worth the risk.
